Our unique teaching method offers a fresh way of learning which will boost your confidence and competence in Italian whilst making the learning process highly accessible and enjoyable.
Our method is immersive and experiential, making learning as near to an authentic lived experience as possible. Rather than rely exclusively on traditional methods of text-input and task-based exercises, we emphasise practical language output, enabling opportunities for spontaneous discussion and meaningful language creation. This fosters a more fluid and creative approach to language learning which both empowers and better equips students with the all-round skills needed to master a language. Learning Italian with Il Club Italiano becomes a real lived experience, relevant, alive and meaningful today – an experiential journey – to be enjoyed not scheduled!
Meet your teachers
Buongiorno, we are Cristina and Genesia, professional Italian teachers and founders of Il Club Italiano, thank you for visiting our site!
Native Italian speakers, we have been friends and colleagues for many years. We first met in London during our teacher training, more than 20 years ago now. We quickly discovered that we not only shared a passion for Italian culture, but that our teaching methods and ideologies were very closely aligned. Although we didn’t know it then, we were already discussing Il Club Italiano!
An unconventional, highly effective way of learning Italian with a focus on culture, interactivity, immersion, and fun.
After teacher training, our careers took parallel but separate paths; between us, we have taught Italian across all age groups and levels up to degree level, including with prestigious schools such as International House, The Italian Cultural Institute and University College London. Through all these years of teaching, we never lost touch and never lost sight of our early ambitions.
Alongside our formal teaching roles, we began to organise courses and events together; partly in response to our students’ desire to learn beyond the classroom, but also driven by our own desire to develop courses which reflected our shared teaching ethos and passion for Italian culture.
These early courses and events were the foundation of Il Club Italiano, a place where all are welcome and where learning Italian is embedded within a vibrant social community driven by our love of Italian culture.

Cristina
Tuscan born, London-based, Cristina has many years of experience teaching Italian both at university level and in adult education contexts. Specialising in Italian film and literary studies she has taught with the University of Oxford, the Italian Cultural Institute, the University of Westminster, and has collaborated with the BBC on independent language projects.
Friendly, inspiring and with a passion for film and books which is highly contagious, Cristina also tutors on a private one-to-one basis and organises Italian cultural events, field trips and intensive courses.
Genesia
Originally from Abruzzo, London based Genesia has many years of experience teaching Italian across all age groups. Specialising in Italian literature and cultural studies she has taught with several organisations including London Metropolitan University, Lambeth College and London’s University of Arts. Inspiring and generous with her knowledge of Italian language and literature Genesia also organises Italian cultural events, visits and intensive courses.
